DocJeff is a bit busy right now. I received an email explaining that the cancer had metastasized and he is focusing on his health and the time he has left.

He could be gruff, he could be irreverent, he could be an ass. He is also a person of great warmth and caring, easily touched by the simple things in life, and a great lover OF life. He is my brother and my friend and a love of mine. I will miss him greatly.

"All things pass from this plane of existence, in time. Even you, my son, will someday see the stars burn away, the earth beneath your feet crumble, and the sky turn dark and never light again. So it is with all things."

If or when you speak to him again, let him know that I am thinking of him. I've known him on lj only briefly, and I regret that I didn't get to know him sooner. Please pass on my very best wishes.

I sent an email to his assistant to pass the thoughts along, Amber. You and I and Doc are a lot alike in temperament. There were a few things that were different, and that only enhanced the friendship. He's a jewel of a person.

Thank you very much. My heart is saddened knowing we may be without his words and companionship here, but joyful in the knowledge that such seperations are only temporary in the grand scheme of things.

I heard from him tonight. The feel the letters carried were calm and gentle and accepting. He passes his love and appreciation to all of us here. Yeah, I don't think we'll be without him forever.
