Desk -- drumming fingers

Yeah, that kinda sums it up. There are just days that can best be summed up with drumming the fingers on a desktop, waiting and waiting.
See, my right ear has decided to ache. Sort of a Eustachian ache from ear to Adam's apple. Yes, I have the Apple Cider Vinegar. And, yes, I have the Mucilex or however you spell it. But that's not the point, see. The think is that I haven't been ill for a fairly long time and this year I seem to be making up for lost time. Kinda ticks me off, you know?
And not ill to the point of going "Oooh! I'm really sick! I should stay at home." No... this is that stuff that just sort hides in the background and keeps me from feeling my best. AND it comes and goes.
I'm just gripin'. I'm not unhappy bout it, really... just irritated.
Here's my schedule for this wild weekend. Friday I'll be doing an early morning run to Eureka Springs to help find a new car for those folks up there. Coulda been done something the entire last month, but Linda wasn't feeling well, the bent rod in the current vehicle tended to cause the car to run very poorly on the Arkansas hills, and umm... something else. Not that it matters. Is just something to be done. 'Sides, I haven't been up there for 2 years, pretty much. Still, the timing just kinda... sucks.
Saturday, when I get the OKAY from the better looking 2 thirds of the BP&G team, I'll start heading for Springfield. Now, I don't know exactly where we'll hook up, and I now have the directions to the Tremendous Tinsley's (and a map!). Frankly, I'm hoping to have some fun in Springfield, cuz it's just that sort of place. It's unknown what time I'll get there, but it's 2 hours, give or take, from Eureka Springs, so conceivably I can leave an hour after Griz and Bags leave Broken Arrow. Heck, I may start early, just so I can get there before them.
Sunday, we go to Whitehart. That is actually something that I really, really want to do. I mean, OKRF is okay and all that, but I don't get excited about it. I don't get excited about most things, but Whitehart is kinda special. It's like Pub Night with all my favorite people, not just one or four of them. I wonder if Tim, Sherry and I will bring Pub Night to Whitehart. We brought it to Houston, and ended up with about 7 or eight folks sitting and talking at the same table.
Then I come home and let both me and the bank account recoup. Until the Fall, when it cools off and I decide to go somewhere I've never been before. So, stay tuned!
I finally heard from my friend Carolyn on Sunday. She's taking another trip to Mexico, land of medical procedures outlawed in the U.S. She has cancer, you see, and she's reaching out to see if their treatments can help her beat the evil. I have my fingers crossed. She'll be gone for a week.
Hmmm.. Mailed a box and two envelopes tonight. Should take about 3 or 4 days to reach the coast, IF I actually got the address legible.
Am basically not feeling very literary, though I do have a bunch (is 2 a bunch?) of ideas bouncing around my head.
I do have one image of Pockets, focused on the undercarriage of the Wagon, trying to remove his dimensional warp transducer without blowing anything up. His eyes are focused, he's sweating like a madman, and his tongue is peeking out from the left side of his mouth. He's holding a spanner (not just a wrench, mind you, but a SPANNER) in his right hand and an oil can in his left. Yeah, it's Pockets, doing SteamPunk in the desert.
That's about it for me. The ear is hurting less gradually, and I'm wondering how broke is broke, and not worrying about it. Silently cursing folks that wait and wait until a situation gets to a point where only Underdog can fix it. That's lil ol' me... Underdog. Thinkin bout my sis Capi, and my Sis Susi, and my darlin Griz and my best chum Bags, and niece Amber and lil sister and .. and ... well. lots of folks, cuz my brain never, ever shuts down.
Night kids. Brain is tired, and Pinky must sleep.

Date: 2009-07-07 03:30 pm (UTC)Sorry you're having to do Underdog stuff that shoulda been done sooner. Some folks just get my ire raised when they leave stuff for others to do that they could do, but have either convinced themselves that they can't or are too lazy or passive aggressive or whatever. Annoys me.
I know I stress more than I should and try to carry more on my shoulders than I should, but then, I'm me and that's part of what I do, innit?
Love you and can't wait to see you on Sunday!

Date: 2009-07-07 05:43 pm (UTC)The rest of this week should be fun and de-stressing (I love marrying folk!) and this is the last weekend, for which no about of stress will do any good so I give it up. So there.
