Well, I didn't get started till way late, so the readers, please forgive me, but I really think I need rest at the moment. All will be revealed, deeds that have been done will be undone, and a double dose will come of this. Just taking a short sleep break.

Thanks!
Chet

*folds up her disappointment very very small and hides it in the back, under the red long-johns*

*grin* Sleep is good. Sleep is *important*. Besides, perhaps you had fun last night? Fun is required!

Gil was a bit scary. Lesson... don't offer to shake hands with very drunk men who look like gang members. LOL.. But Bags was ready for him if there was any trouble. I'm pretty sure that's why he wanted to be standing.

...and why I don't really like bars, you know?

I mean, for a non-smoking empath, not a place to be very often...especially with a cold.

I'm gonna be away all weekend, but look forward to catching up on Monday!

*hugs*

Aww.. there's places that encourage that roughish sorta behaviour, and there's places that encourage MY sort of behaviour. It was just a night when I should just have not been my normally friendly self.

It all worked out good, and the adventure adds flavor to some story or other.

Have fun, m'Queen! See you on the flip side.

HUGS! Happy safe travels!! We rarely run in to the wrong sort on our excursions, but every now and then... remind us to tell of the drunken school teacher lady who asked to touch my boobs! LOL..

*L* I know why!

Well, no, i don't know WHY, i only know exactly what that's like. Cuz it's part of our sameness, y'see.

There is something about how we respond to life, something about our personal presence, something about our just being there..... it comes. It just has to come.

Do you have an adventure hat?

I don't think you'd call it an adventure hat, but I to tend to where a hat when I go out. Just a simple type ball cap. If I do have an adventure hat, it would be just my own skull cap, I think.

You did ask about the real jacket. It's a black shapeless thing, hooded, with pockets way, way down on the bottom edges, one on either side, cut at an angle. The yoke is quilted slightly, but the quilting has rather given up o'er the near 18 years I've had it.

No zipper, nor button, per se. It has togs that slip into loops at the front, spaced bout a handsbreath away from each other. Doesn't keep out much wind, but it's been my companion for all this time.

*digs out the old file, shreds it, inserts new file*

I'm so glad you told me this. I had it ALL WRONG. I don't want it to be all wrong!

YOUR jacket sounds *perfect*, a very comfortable companion. And besides, toggles have a lot of personality. So there.

*grin*

Gil could be a real world equivelent to Corwin, but much less a bag guy. Far too sure of himself. I certainly hope Stacy is NOT involved with him. She has enough children to raise.

That is very sad.

When i see people like that, carrying around their own happy view of themselves, i always wonder where in the world they GOT that view!

I was just sitting here thinking that Gil could be one of Corwin's boys. Street tough type. And surely Stacy has more smarts than that! I have a feeling he was being a drunken nuisance at the bar and she had him emptying the ash trays to get him out of her hair for a few minutes.

Yeah.. that makes much more sense. Not really a bad sort, just the sort that shouldn't be drinkin' in public.
From: [identity profile] shackrlu.livejournal.com
The night at the pub had so far gone as so many of their nights at the pub go. Lifting of glasses, happy banter, laughter and singing all around. Grizelda was the first to notice the young man approaching the tables gathering trash from the empty tables. She gathered the random bits from their table in one spot to make the young man's job a bit easier. He was watching her as he approached. "Thank you ma'am, you musta seen me comin'"
Griselda smiled "Yes I did!" Pockets seeing a friend he just hasn't met yet sticks his hand out. "Hello! I'm Chester and who might you be?" The fellow had the face of a man who had seen hard times on the streets, but his black garb and shiny black boots pegged him as one of Corwin's boys. The face was tough but still smiling as he backed away a pace. "They calls me Gil, but sir you don't want to be shakin this hand o'mine right now, it's been pickin up all sorts of garbage. But I'll be back fer proper introductions to you folk as soon as i'm done helping Stacy out."

Griselda was a bit relieved to see him swagger away. It was obvious from the short exchange that Gil had been lifting more than a few pints of ale this night. His smile and words were friendly enough but the smile never quite reached his eyes, they remained cold and hard. No one at the table was sorry to see him move on.

True to his word though, Gil was back in short order, pint of ale in hand ready for handshakes and introductions all around. Gil was VERY much in his cups and soon was coloring his sentences with words that would make a seaman blush. When he began calling Pockets a string of off color names, all the while with the smile on his face, Bags leaned in to Grizelda and asks.. don't you need to make a trip to the privy m'dear?" Picking up on his intention immediately Grizelda excused herself. Bags slid from the bench to allow her to depart and him an excuse to stand up. That was the plan you see, while sitting on the bench and Gil standing he was at a disadvantage should Gil decide to escalate the situation from friendly to confrontational. Bags liked a clear playing field and Grizelda knew Bags.

Grizelda returned to find Gil sitting on the bench across from Pockets and the lovely Ms.Tami who had joined them in the nights festivities. Bags more propped than sitting on a stool next to the booth, still smiling but taking in every move of the drunken Gil. Gil rose from the bench on Grizelda's return to allow her to slide in to her former seat, but instead of allowing Bags to return to his place Gil slid in next to Grizelda throwing his arm around her shoulders and giving her a squeeze. "You don't mind if I sit here with you a bit DO you dear lady" Grizelda shot a glance over his shoulder to where Bags was now standing.. with a "What the hell do I do NOW" look on her face. "But Gil! You see I miss Bags when he's not here next to me!" Luckily Gil took the hint, and after another squeeze of Griselda's shoulders he exited the booth and allowed Bags to retake his seat. The last drops of ale were quickly finished and the group as one decided it was time to call it a night. Sometimes a hasty exit is the best exit.

A very good take, m'dear. Course, there's not enough Pockets in it for me, but that's ok... you should do more of YOUR own stories, y'know?
From: [identity profile] shackrlu.livejournal.com
Sorry darlin', just think of it as a short fanfic written on a whim. When I came to what would have been the Pockets and Gil exchange I shied away from all the cursing that Gil did and Pockets part of this story got sidestepped.. I'll stick to reading and leave the writing to you and Tim! I don't have a story and would botch it badly if I tried.
From: [identity profile] joegoda.livejournal.com
You act as if that was a chastisment, sweety! No, no, no,nothing of the sort! I enjoyed reading it, and was just poking fun for Pockets not being there. It was perfectly all right, and darn you, YOU DO have stories, and don't tell me other wise.

I don't blame you for walking away from Gils language. I would have too. YOU did FINE. And I expect to see more of Griz's stories.

Please don't take my comment so serious.
From: [identity profile] shackrlu.livejournal.com
I was just afraid I'd stepped on your toes, so to speak.. it is YOUR story! I was just feelin' silly and thinking about last night from the metaphor of your story and just started writing it down. I must admit it was a bit fun! If I can ever see characters in my head as solid as your characters are I will write myself a story.
From: [identity profile] joegoda.livejournal.com
Silly you. You have every right to write! It is OUR story, after all, and if you want to take Grizelda and write of her adventures, you may certainly do so. The only thing I ask is that if she exists in the same world as she does here, that she has to be true to the character we've created in this story, regardless of the timeline she exists in (as in before Babs.. or, god forbid, after Bags). If you decide to write of a Griz that lives in a different universe, then you can do what ever you want to. Hugs!

LOL! Your take was wonderful! You captured the Gil experience perfectly. :) He so wanted you. :)

By the way I had a great time last night. I wish I could attend all of your pub adventures.

*guffaw* yeah right!! LOL

It was so great to have you with us last night, I hope you can run away for more pub adventures in the future! We're silly but we have fun!
