Shannon and I went to the Scottish Games on Sunday. I felt kinda bad, because I mentioned to Tim that we were going, and, since I didn't set a time with Shannon, we spent the morning hanging artwork. Why we did that, I don't know. I guess I didn't impress on Shannon that we might be meeting Tim there, even though I know I mentioned that I had told Tim that we were going and we might meet him there. So. Tim texted me about noonish and told me he was there. Shannon got a bit upset because I didn't tell her that we were meeting Tim at noon, which is okay, because Tim and I didn't discuss times. I guess I just need to do a better job of looking into the future so I can determine the action of other people.

Regardless, we started that way, heading down 75, when Tim texted me again and told me it was too hot and he was going home. I didn't blame him. It was friggin hot. And we went anyway.

I have this to say about the Scottish games here in Tulsa. B triple o triple r triple ing. I don't know what the big deal is. Maybe it was the location. Maybe it was because it was so hot (104). Maybe it was because I expected something more than a sad bunch of vendors, over priced beer, and a couple of marching bagpipe troups. Maybe it's because I'm not Scottish and JUST DON'T GET IT. Pick any or all of the above and it may be true.

Maybe it was because I was FORCED to pay 5 dollars to park, and then 5 dollars to get in. Cheap, you say? Yes, I am. I didn't mind the 5 dollars per person to get in, I just hate being forced to park somewhere and then pay for the privilege of being forced to park there.

Granted, I got to watch someone throw a caber. That was kinda cool. And then they threw a hammer, which looked like a really heavy rock. That was kinda cool too, specially since nobody passed out from the heat. And I signed up to win a new car. That was kinda dumb, but what the hey. Maybe I'll win it.

Now, besides all this, I did kinda enjoy myself. I mean, I was out with Shannon, and we weren't fighting, which is good and new. I think we're hitting a good period where we are finally understanding the other's needs a bit better. So that was good.... until.....

We bought a kilt. Yes. It's true! Don't look like that! And not just any kilt, but a survivalist Utilikilt. The one with enough pocket space to carry sixteen 16 oz bottles of whatever fresh beverage is about. The one that weighs about 10 pounds. The one with the modesty button.

It's khaki, or tan, depending. If you believe that the color was about to be phased out, then the color is khaki, the same color as a pair of my cargo pants and a pair of my cargo shorts. OR, or... if you want to believe it's something that can be easily found on their web site - http://www.utilikilt.com - under the inoculate name of 'Tan', then the kilt is tan.

Here's the kilt:

Tan or Khaki. You be the judge.

Docjeff, it's a light tan, or a light khaki, workman's knee lenght kilt - no tartan at all, just one single color, with 2 front pockets with expandable webbing, two slant pockets that run about a foot and a half deep, and 2 back pockets. The two front expandable pockets actually detach and have loops on the back so you can carry them separately, like a belt pouch. If that's confusing, I agree. It's a lot of pockets with a lot of options.

Oh, and just cuz I wanted to let you know, Utilikilts are NOT inexpensive. Remember how much I griped about how much it cost to park? Well.... this is a 300 dollar skirt. I no longer have the right to make fun of anyone for how much they fritter their money away. Ever. Shannon and I split the cost down the middle. She figured I needed it. Not sure why, unless it was my comment about thinking that it would be cool to have one. I'm learning soooo much, let me tell you.

Still, now I own a Kilt! Not some namby pamby tartan where you have to be careful about staining the fabric and having to change your family allegiance. No sirree! I own a Survivalist Kilt! Made of 100 percent cloth except where it's not! I even talked to my manager at work and cleared it with her to wear it. Look out world, here I come!

I just don't know if it's right for Bags to wear any garment with that many pockets... seems unnatural.

Oh, but I think that Bags *needs* those pockets - because sometimes you just need one more place to carry something...

YES! And if the pockets are removable and you can hang them from your belt, then don't they then become bags?

Yay for becoming a kilted one. As for why Shannon decided you needed to buy it, that's easy - men in kilts are easy on the eyes...

You might want to look into producing your own. Somehow, I don't see it costing you close to 300 dollars to create. Now, I could be wrong. There's a lot of brass rivets, and an awful lot of cloth in them thar pleats...

When you say "khaki" I still think WWII US Army uniform color, also known as olive drab. I call what you got tan.
