Because the things I used to rant about can now be used against me. I have had one fairly good day and one incredibly crappy night. Nothing I have lived through has proved me to be wrong about my opinions of people. The night turned out pretty much as I expected. Nothing I did was right.

Have you seen the studies showing that depressed or otherwise irascible folks actually have a more realistic view of life ?
The rest don't much like having illusions whacked at.
FWIW, I get pissed at you occasionally but I don't hold a grudge, and I kind of expect that you'll get pissed off at me as well - it's got to do with being human.
It's the folks who hang on to it like it's a pet that worry *me*.

I haven't seen the studies, but it does not surprise me that folks that have a realistic view of life tend to be a bit less rosey. I don't even know if he studies are true 100 percent of the time. Generally not.

Glad to see you don't hold a grudge. Hey, it's okay if you're pissy with me. I really don't care, and can take you or leave you. But don't take it out on Shannon. She does classify you as a friend and, for whatever reason, values that.

Those of us who hold a realistic (as opposed to pessimistic) point of view are all too often told to "keep it to ourselves" because we are 'depressing everyone else'. However, I think that the issue with the eternal-optimist/rose-colored-glasses folks is that they not only cannot see the bad/sad/horrible parts of the world, but they are part of the reason why the rest of us are wallowing in muck - because they cannot/will not see the real state of the world, so they won't get up and join us in trying to actually do something about it. I suspect they are also the ones who are most prone to major mood swings - when one's Happy Bunny world simply will not conform to fit one's own notions of 'rightness', it's a major catastrophe for them - they cannot cope with less than perfection (or at least what passes for perfection in their eyes).

Post or not, as suits yourself, but do not let the disney-esque people take over. Please. That is a fate worse than death. *shudder*
