I sooo debated on going to the Salt Plains on Saturday the 10th. I did, I did, so other folks could go too. But then I got to thinking... Saturday is probably going to be busy for folks not working on that day. And I did promise a friend of mine that I will show up in Jenks on the 10th. The 10th is Art on Main, in Jenks... lasting from 10 am to 6 pm. A free thing with art lining the streets of Jenks from one end to the other and my friend, Michelle doing Henna body art (tattoos).

So... I decided that the 8th will be my Crystal digging day. Tim is going with me, I think. And Susi mentioned she would be interested. But life being what it is, if I end up going solo, I think I will.

For those who wished they could go, but can't, there is always next year to out to the big lonely salty. This won't be my last year of going, just my first. Next year starts April 1, so make plans to bug me to go some spring or summer weekend. I'll pretty much say sure! Heck, there are campgrounds and cabins out there way, so who knows... it might be a two day sort of thing.

Now, it may rain... which would sort of suck, so let's just make plans to make plans and in reality play it as it lays.

Anyway.. the 10th is Art on Main, in Jenks! I'll be having lunch at the Wenches, with my friend the henna artist Raven. If you wanna drop by and chat about life, art and henna, come and join us.

It's all good. This weekend is Cushing's Festival In The Park, so I think Smog and I will hit that up!

Have fun digging in the dirt, and we'll try to get a group out there next spring!

I tossed the idea around a bunch, but ever time it rolled up boxcars. Next year it is! I looked at the Cushing Festival. A chili Cook-off! Hmmmmm... chili. Maybe I'll wander from Jenks up to Cushing on Saturday, just to see what small town OK can do. Gotta be better than Big Town Ok.

I can go on Thursday! I need to sew and get 10 more FiddlyBags done but that's gotta happen well before then anyway; need to ship them out on Wednesday at the latest.

Then if Tim goes, it'll be the three of us. We can work out details before then, but more than likely, we should probably meet up somewhere, pool our ride and have one vehicle travel out that way. Besides, I've been craving waffles for breakfast, and maybe we can do breakfast somewhere before we leave.

Love, keep in mind, it will more than likely be a full day event. It's a big three hours out there, then digging, and a big three hours back. Dress sloppy, and I've figured the best digging tool is a kitty litter scooper, because it's got hole for the sand to sift through.

I'll be bringing about 2 or three gallons of water to wash the mud away from our finds, and a couple of coffee cans to hold them in. You just have to bring your pretty self, looking as casual as you want.

Well heck, why don't you guys come here for breakfast; I have a nifty restaurant style waffle-maker that I've been hankering to use; no need to spend money on breakfast!

I'll also bring my gloves since I won't want to get my hands beat up. The kitty litter scoop is a great idea! I'm also going to bring some drinking water.

Gloves are an excellent idea. As the entire place is a salt bed, the alkaline would damage anything nice about your skin. As for making restaurant style waffles, you got my attention, for sure and true! There's days I want pancakes, there's days I want waffles, and there's days I don't want either, but I've been hankerin' a big ol' plate of buttery syrup covered waffles and bacon for about a month now.

You're one of the best sibs I could ever have wished for. And just cuz the question may come up, I don't have that many sibs, at all.

It'd be my pleasure; you know how I love cooking for folks, especially breakfast, for some reason. We'll have fried potatoes and most definitely, bacon as well.

Make sure you tell Tim too, ok?

You're about the bestest sib I could have too....life is good!

I'm pretty sure we'll be able to come Wednesday night and then we can make final plans.

*pout*

I wanna go dig crystals. And I wanna eat Susi waffles.

*sticks out lower lip, then smiles*

Next spring on the crystals. Definitely. And I will get waffles sooner than that, with any luck...

I considered Saturday, I truly did. The air just didn't feel quite right for it. I could see folks were going to have things happen and would make Saturday not the best day. So I stuck with the original plan.

April Fool's day next year falls on a Thursday. I say we make a tentative plan for Saturday, April the 3rd, depending on what else happens in our lives. Always being flexible to move if need be.

And I wanna come hear you play, and I want to have tears streaming down my face from the sound. Becky, it's not the music. It's the heart. You have the heart, and from that comes the music.

When the snows come, and there is white on the ground, I think that's when I want to come hear you play. Is that possible? I can see me sitting on a sofa, with you standing in front of a music stand, your eyes closed and the bow running it's courses. I know that the snow is on the ground because the light streaming into the window is bright, bright.

Your music will bring my dad back to me, for so brief a time, as he was a full lifer musician as well. No fidder he, tho. He was an upright bass man. But doesn't matter. You have the same heart as he did. And that's why I want to hear you play.

I like the idea of first April weekend next year for a dig. However we will have to check the dates because I think that is also Easter weekend, and I don't know if the area will be open, as a result. If need be, we can move it back a week.

I can provide the setting and the music; not certain about the snow, though. We'll see how things go this winter - at least we're close enough to make it happen on a whim...

2010 Easter does indeed fall on April 4th. It will have to be one of those wait and see moments, but I suspect the park will be open. When we were there, no guards, no one to check security, no life guards at all. They may close the gates at 6pm that night, but I'm wagering it'll be open.
