That bright light in the sky to the Due West that we saw, and it's still there is the Planet Venus. At 9 pm, it is just about to touch the horizon. If, at 9pm, you turn around 180 degrees, you'll see Leo directly ahead of you and if your eyes are good enough, up about 15 to 20 degrees and just to your right, you might see Saturn.
