The Knife edge of my life

No.. seriously.. to think that death is something horribly tragic. How ridiculous. The only thing tragic is the act of dying and the response of the living, who carry on afterward. And the living are only tragic because... now get this... THEY CAN'T LET GO. Really. Think about it. The dead, well, they're dead. They've moved on, metaphorically, metaphysically and hey, maybe even spiritually. The living, though. Man, talk about whiny butts who can't get it through their heads that it's time to give up control of something that can't be controlled anyway.

WARNING: Rant back here )
Just know that I love you. With a capital L. And that kids, is all I have to say about that for right now. I don't expect you to get it or to understand where all this is coming from or even to have a response of any kind.

But really, just know that, no matter where you go, no matter what you do, no matter how pissed off I may get at where you go and what you do, I will Love you. With all my heart. Because that's the only way to do it, in my book.

Till later,

Just thinking. I'm a lucky SOB

Yeah, it's been a while for me to post anything here. There's been a lot going on in my life, for sure and true. The last quarter has seen me leave Bartlesville and buy a house. It's a good house, and it's really the second time that I've done that. The first was quite a while ago and it didn't end very well. This time is going much better. The feeling of this house is more positive, and the area is a lot safer. And there's a pool and a hot tub. Shannon works her ass off and so it may be that this is a doable thing! on the other hand... if it falls apart and we lose the house, I'll just start all over again.

In December, I had a car wreck. Seems that I'm marking up one per year. It killed the van, which was not a fun thing. I liked the van, even though it sucked gas and was heading toward falling apart. It also was able to carry a lot of stuff and pretty much moved everything that was left over in the old Bartlesville house. I was fine, and am fine. I got a Saturn from the insurance money. It's one of those cool 3 door Saturns that rumbles when I start it, grumbles when I drive it and gets somewhere between 25 and 35 miles to the gallon.

Then in the first of the year, I lost my job. No, that's not true. I know where my job is. It's just that someone else is doing it. I wasn't terminated. I was fired because my coaching style isn't up to the standards of US Cellular. I didn't fire folks fast enough to suit them. My teams stats were excellent, the morale was positive, there was good communication between everyone there. I just didn't take corrective action appropriate to what US Cellular, or more specifically, My Boss, thought I should.

So, now I have a new job. I work as a Dispatcher, dispatching technicians around the Dallas area to fix Coke machines like fountains and such. The Saturn is running okay, the weather is mild and I didn't freeze to death or get killed by a tornado.

I really don't have much to whine about. In fact, I'm pretty damn lucky. I'm about to start ignoring the lives of those who do whine a lot. On second thought, I've already started to ignore those who whine a lot. I won't remove you, because everyone has to do something that makes them feel alive. And whining is one of those things. Like a baby crying in the dark for it's dingo, sometimes adults must let the world know that they still exist. And you can quote me.

these dreams

There are five phrases, ancient beyond history, that when said together by a person of power, gives that one control over the universe and reality. A single phrase, spoken alone without the others, will drive an ordinary person mad, their minds trapped outside of this dimension, and unable to reach back to the world they know as home.

It was our job to stop the Speaker. It was our job to destroy the evidence that the phrases ever existed. It was going to be a rough day.
