Earth Hour.

I think it is so incredibly neat that all over the world, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, local time to whomever, companies and individuals are turning off their lights or dimming non-essential ones. Granted the Eiffel Tower was dark for only 5 minutes for safety reasons, but still.... think about it!

I have no idea if it will save that much energy, and I don't really care. Humans are wasteful animals. What I like is the idea of the sharing, of the caring, of the joining. For one hour, as it spreads across the world, millions, and perhaps billions, of individuals have made a conscious choice to be a part of one very large SuperSet.

How cool is that?

I was kinda tickled to find I hadn't missed it! I shall be turning off everything here in a few minutes and wont turn it back on until after 9:30. I went a week during the snow storm without power. Surely I can go an hour without.. We can think of something to do for an hour.

Funny thing is the only lights that are ever on here are the security lights outside. They're provided by the community and can't be turned off. Inside my house, though... no lights at all. No need for them :)

That just means you are Green before anyone else, Doc, Green before our time.

Linda was bugged that she missed it. Surprised me she even knew about it. It's kind of a neat thing, that the world just did. I went to sleep.

I asked if I could turn off my computer for that hour while I was at work...my coach wasn't really okay with that. *shrug*

Hi Valerie! Yeah... go figure. You might miss a customer or something.
