I don't disagree with you a bit. Application is proof of the hypothesis. One can build from the basic hypothesis and theorize all they wish and never do anything with. I think that is what they call a 'Pipe dream'. It is only through application and action that the hypothesis and theory is proven, whether it is done by the individual themselves or by someone else.
It's enough to say 'The world is such and such...' but we have to be ready to back it up with statistics. And if we believe in the theory enough, we have to be able to apply it to our own lives, if it applies to the micro rather than the macro scale.
I just noticed that I'm editing myself, simply because of whom I'm speaking to. I'm actually nervous about using words of which I have little or no knowledge. Hmmmm... It's fun to talk to the highly educated, because I know that you'll come back and say "Chet... that's total bullshit.". In fact, I think you have!
