I just don't like laundries.

I just do not. There's just something about spending an inordinate amount of money to do laundry. It costs me four dollars to do a single load, and that includes drying time. Yeah, it may not be much, but it's still a gallon of gas. So I decided to go looking for a low cost alternative. A compact washer I could use at home.

Wonder Wash is a low cost solution, running around 50 bucks. It's hand cranked, uses no electricity, and works will a bit of water. Granted, it has only a five pound capacity, but still... it's enough for me.

Why am I telling you about it? Cuz there may, just may, be some folks out there that go camping or go to Ren Faires and would like to wash their clothes without having to run to find a laundry or borrow a friends laundry. There may be things that need to be washed NOW, rather than later.

So.. there it is. My public service announcement. Oh, and it looks like it's the Wenches tonight, for those who might wonder.

I had wondered where! Becky is here and has her violin (says she know better than to come down here without it. *grin*) and I've asked Bruce so hopefully we'll be there with 3/4 of Queen's Gambit. Bruce has (hopeful) thoughts that Amber will come with but I'm highly doubtful.

I was wondering how many folks knew. I talked to April today and she advised me that they had voted last night at Bob's b'day to go to the Wenches.

Oddly, I thought of you when I posted about the washer. It looks like a handy doo dad. I may buy one and try it out, once I get a bit more flush.

Yeah, I'm interested in it...like to know about non-power alternatives.

We were sorry to miss Bob's birthday celebration but we were finishing the CD packaging. I should sew tonight but I feel like playing and having Becky here is just too good an opportunity to do a "trial play" to miss.

See ya in a bit...

[identity profile] joegoda.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Uh oh. What has my darling little insane sis done now? Capi, I will tell you catagorically that you, YOU, are one of the VERY few people that keep me going, that keep me from shutting down and shutting out. YOU are one of the VERY few that I can count on one hand that continue to give me cause to Love, to Live and to Be.

Are you telling me that I shouldn't buy one of these thingies?

Isn't she just the most wonderful sister?!? :-)

[identity profile] joegoda.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
She is as wonderful a sister as you are a Grizelda and a Fitz, love.

Sugar-Pie..... you are just not going to believe this....

I have not one, but TWO of those things gathering dust in my garage. Well, not any more, i don't. *heh* One is going into the mail this morning. I mean, if you want to buy one, you can..... *shrug*

*twinkle*

Seriously, the one coming to you still has the original packing materials in it. However, i wouldn't be surprised if a rubberband had to be replaced, or a rubber gasket. It's been in there since 1999. *LOL* These were (no scoffing, now!!) part of my Y2K planning!! *LOL*!! Aren't you glad!!?

As i see it, the biggest drawback of these things is that you will have clean soapy clothes. Rinsing. Washing will be easy, but rinsing will be harder. But that's ok. You'll work that out. No worries. And you have drying figgered out in your tub, right? WIN! Well, that and the fact that you really are limited to small loads, but hey, you can always fall back for modern facilities for those big loads now and then. I am keeping the last one because a woman always has things she can use a small hand washer for, much moreso than a man. *snort*

So yes, dear brother mine, there is one coming atcha. The box is old. The product is the same people. *LOL* This is just too amusing.

Happy birthay. *grin*

For years, I've thought the one thing Burning Man needed was a laundry. That would be just the trick!

[identity profile] capi.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not so sure, my friend. I suggest playing with it at home first, seriously. You can do your under-things, and maybe some t-shirts, but pants will be much harder, and i think rinsing will possibly be an issue. Of course, drying won't be a big problem out there.... *L*

I can just see the whole gang crammed into Chet's little bathroom trying to figure out solutions.... *LOL*

Did you just call me Sugar-pie? And you were worried about and planned for Y2K? Amazing the things I learn as I get older.

Thank you, sis of mine. I love you ever so.

The rinsing, as I understand it from webpage and discussions from those that have used it, isn't so hard or isn't if the thing works as advertised. You just run it through again, without soap. Course, if that's not exactly true, then no big deal. I've been doing laundry in the tub for years now, and rinsing is just a part of it.

Love you, most wonderful and goofy sis of mine!

[identity profile] shackrlu.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
O.k...now I have to stab out my mind's eye!! Actually I can't stop giggling..it's a good thing I work alone.

[identity profile] capi.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I had the BEST time planning for Y2K! I'm a planner and a "depression era" thinker, so it was the best of all worlds to me. *LOL* You should have seen all my preparations. I won't say i was disappointed when nothing happened, tho. Even so, yes, as you can see, there are still things here from my preparations and people like YOU benefit! WIN!!

I love YOU, most wonderful brother!! I sent it off this morning! YAYAYAYAYYYY!!!!!!!!

[identity profile] capi.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
um... yeah.... i did call you Sugah-Pie. *blush* I call you lots of things like that, at least in my mind. Is that 'llowed?

[identity profile] joegoda.livejournal.com 2008-06-19 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course it's allowed, Sis! It just takes extra thought to add the hypen, so it surprised me.
