Upon getting to Potbelly's tonight, I was greeted by Tim and Layle at the bar. Not at a table, as is our usual spot, but at the bar, as proper gents do. We sat there and bs'd about the world and laughed quite a bit. It was a good manly sort of manly time held by men. Pity there weren't any women around to see just how manly we could be.
HOWEVER, there was this one woman.. sitting on the same corner of the bar as Layle who did not look happy when I got there. Some guy played country music on the Juke, and she stated "NO! Not more country. Seemed about to cry to me, so I looked at her, being an observer of human nature. She looked sad and angry at the same time. She turned to me and said "What???" not in a nice tone of face, either. I told her that I agreed with her.. the country music that had been picked had not been the best choice, in my opinion. The I made an very concerted effort to ignore her, as her attitude made my head hurt.
So.. she decided to slide of the barstool and go talk to the guy at the juke box. Soon they were best of friends. She shooting pool, and every so often coming back to the bar to talk with him.
A whole bunch of biker folk came in, including one lady dressed as a snake charmer. And she started to talk to at least one of them. Now, I don't know what happened, but about 10 minutes after biker troop came in, they all, enmass left the bar. And lil miss I have an attitude came back INTO the bar, from outside, sobbing and crying. The general attitude was WTF?
She ducked back into the kitchen area of the bar, close to us 3 compadres and continued to cry and howl as if she was a cat dipped in turpentine. The Bartender, the waitress, the waitress that was NOT on duty all went back to see what was up. They all came back out, and sorta went about their business, but very shortly, 4 police and 2 Emsa folks howed up. Why? I don't know. I won't even venture a guess.
I've known women like that before, and I'm glad she decided to leave the 3 of us to our own devices. All I can say is that it was a VERY interesting night at the good ol' watering hole. Sorry the rest of you missed out on NON-LJ drama....
