Nono Nano words tonight.

I is taking a short break. Tomorrow, I'll be back at it. Somebody upped MY challenge to One Hundred Thousand words before the 30th. Some other idiot upped that ante to one hundred twenty thousand. *sigh*

THAT would just be way, way too HARD...

I can imagine that a useful skill in this would be to be able to come up with two words verbs as much as possible. Always say "look over" instead of "inspect", "think through" instead of "consider", etc. This would up your word count considerably.

I will admit to having thought (instead of contemplated or pondered) of using (instead of employing) this technique on occasion, but it feels so much like I'm padding the story, I had to take a shower afterwards... Good lord, Bill! I seem to do it naturally! Now I must shower...

It's not a bad suggestion. Two word replacements actually tend to make material more readable, because the average reading level is pretty low. I think last time I checked my writing style is somewhere just above the sixth grade.

I was just moved to expound upon this in my own journal (http://butterflybill.livejournal.com/)
