Treasures from My Momma!

I stumbled onto some of my mother's 50+ recipe book. It was a little note book she wrote her recipes down in. Now, there's some great things there. Some cakes and something called a Pon Pusque, which is really a fried pie. Delicious crust, as I remember. But the most prevalent recipe is a recipe for Pickles. Bout 5 different types, and I think all from Cucumbers, which I don't like. So, if any of you cuke growers would like me to post 'em, I will. Otherwise, I'll just let them sit in the book.

OH! And a recipe for home made Kraut! That was kinda cool, cuz it's like Kim Chee, but not.

Yes, Yes! And there is an absolute delightful recipe for mashed potato donuts. They are much lighter then ordinary yeast dough and melt in your mouth. As kids, one of our favorite jobs was to hold the brown grocery bag of granulated sugar, catch the donuts as they were pulled from the hot oil, then shake, shake, shake, Sonora, until they were covered. MMmmmmmm Good eatin, Maynard! It's a wonder that we don't weigh 300 pounds or more.
